Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
We have talked about getting married from the very beginning but as with life, other details take hold. We had both been married before and had children to consider, families to blend. Timing was of utmost importance in moving forward with grace and ease. Finally, after living together for years and our children growing together as both friends and as family, it was time. Rob and I went to St. Lucia in November 2017 for a much needed vacation. We stayed at the Calabash Cove Resort and Spa Hotel. On our first day there, after a day of swimming, lounging, reading, and exploring, we went down to the beach to take in the beautiful St. Lucian sunset.

It was there on the beach as the sun sank into the ocean’s horizon that I leaned into Rob and rested on his chest. Both of us were looking forward when he asked, “Where do you see us in five years?”. I answered the standard, dreamy, hopeful answers. He asked again, “But, where do you see us in five years?”. I turned to look at him to say, “What’s wrong with my dreamy hopeful answers?” It was then that I saw the magic of his fantastical smile and his eyes brimming bright with possibility and tears. He took my hand in his and I felt the rock of the ring under my hand. I began to shake and he said, “I see us married and living the life we have and will continue to build upon as we always have- happy, in love and together. Donna, will you marry me?”. I began to shake as I did not expect this on this vacation at all! Although we talked about it for years, life just seemed to go on. Now, here he was with all his love for me and for us dancing on his face, waiting for my answer. I cried out, “100,000 times Yes! Of Course. Forever.”‘
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Making it happen and no longer just talking about it!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Having done it once before (and never again) you know the important part is really just about the two of you sharing your love with those that you love.
