Joy Proposal Story: Emily & Alex

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We were in New York on a family vacation, my entire family was there. He kept it a secret from everyone except my two brothers who were in on it with him. He proposed in Central Park on the last day of our trip in a very beautiful, tucked away clearing. He asked to take a picture with me, which was my brother’s cue to start the video! It was an incredible moment and a total surprise to both myself and my family, who were all there watching. Very special!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

By far the best part of planning the wedding has been all of the time spent with my family, especially my mom and my aunt who have been involved in everything. But, I would say every step of the planning has been special and memorable!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I remind myself that this is an extremely special and unique time of my life that will only happen once. I want to enjoy every part of it!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

What set Joy apart for me was the section where we can put in our wedding party, I think that makes it so fun and personal! I also really appreciate how Joy walks you through each section and helps you out. Sometimes it’s hard to know or remember all of the information guests may need, but Joy helps you check off all the boxes!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Take time to make the website yours! A website not only helps your guests get to know you more as a couple, it also helps ward off a lot of questions that would surely come your way.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Happiness is a feeling, joy is more than that. Joy is a state of being, a mentality that can carry you through life, both through the good and bad times.
