Joy Proposal Story: Erin & Timothy

by Aubrey Bach

Despite living 200 miles away from each other for the first 2 years of their relationship, Erin and Timothy knew they had something special after they met on match.com. Timothy made the drive many times, and Erin, who is blind, found rides whenever possible. Now they not only live in the same city, but are using Joy to plan their Jun 2017 wedding in upstate New York.

Give us the details! When? Where? How?

Tim proposed on Nov. 14 of 2015 on the beach in Florida. He got down on one knee, and since I didn’t know what he was doing, I yelled at him because I didn’t want him to get his knee dirty. It was so romantic though with Tim explaining what the ocean looked like and how clear the sky was with stars in it. To make it even more special, it was his birthday as well!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Our favorite part of wedding planning is the food! We are having a traditional wedding, but since we both love BBQ, we are having it catered by a local BBQ restaurant.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We stay sane under pressure no matter what. We are both very easy going, roll-with-the-punches type of people and take things one step at a time instead of letting life overwhelm us. We also ask others to help and delegate certain tasks that we might not have the time to complete on our own

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

Our favorite part of using Joy for our wedding is to inform all of our guests of the schedule, wedding party, and accommodations. We also love the “frequently asked questions” area as it allows us to answer any questions we can foresee being asked. The tidbits section is fun too because we could share some of our silly moments and favorite things with our potential guests.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Joy makes it so much easier to share information with our guests! The advice we would pass along to other couples using Joy to have fun with it. You’ll get the most out of Joy for your wedding if you add pictures, be silly, and pack it with as much information as you can. In my opinion, it’s better to have your guests be over-informed than to get a million calls, emails, and text messages asking for information.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

To us, a wedding is a ceremony that broadcasts our love to our family and friends and makes our relationship “official.” Joy for life is continuing that love and building on the relationship that we created the first time we talked on the phone.
