Joy Proposal Story: Hannah & Kevin

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We met in 10th grade biology!
I honestly don’t remember what he said, but the only thing I could say was “a thousand times, yes!”

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Kevin had it planned out to propose in a park where we had one of our first dates after my birthday celebration. It’s important to keep in mind that my birthday is in January, and I hate cold! After we were done eating we started walking back to the car and he was trying to take his time walking back, but I couldn’t stand it any longer and I ran back to the car. Kevin, being the wonderful person he is, didn’t say anything (my teeth were chattering) and drove us home. It was then that he had me sit on our couch and close my eyes. When I opened them he was on one knee with the ring. I honestly don’t remember what he said, but the only thing I could say was “a thousand times, yes!”

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Thinking outside of the box. We are both very creative and he’s super handy, so we are tackling a lot of projects! I love collaborating with his genius.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

A lot of deep breaths, a great support network, and dance parties. (…and of course HIM!)

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love how customizable everything is, but without being overwhelming.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Make it your own! Throw any rule you feel you have to follow, out the window.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Joy means choosing to take the bad with good and making lemonade out of cucumbers. Life gets crazy, and plans very rarely turn out how you wish them to. All you can do is find that person that is your anchor and always beside you.
