How did the two of you meet?
When I was a freshman in college, I was out dancing Salsa with my best friend. Henry and his friend came up to us and asked to dance with us. and shortly after I added him on Facebook. It wasn’t until 4 years later that we reconnected and started dating!
How long have you been together?
We reached our 5 year anniversary on July 29!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
I was on a medical mission trip in Guatemala on January of 2016. Afterwards I had planned a trip with my brother to go backpacking all around Guatemala. On our first hike up the Pacaya Volcano I heard someone yelling my name. Not expecting to see my soon to be fiancé (who I thought was in Chicago) or expecting him to join me on my Guatemala adventures, I was confused as to who was yelling my name and why this person was yelling for me to “read the rocks!” Next thing I knew, Henry was on his knee and I realize the volcano rocks said “Will you Marry Me?” My sneaky brother captured this and all our adventures in Guatemala in this beautiful video: https://vimeo.com/154948670

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Exploring where to get married has been the best part! We realized we didn’t want the traditional wedding and wanted it to be unique. We have decided to get married in the Grand Canyon National Park, AZ. Why not get married in one of the most remarkable natural wonders of the world?
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
taking a shot of tequila? just kidding 🙂 I remind myself who I am marrying and how much I love this guy!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
It’s very simple and easy to use for the non-tech-savvy person 🙂
