Joy Proposal Story: Jaimie & Aaron

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Aaron proposed at Newport Vineyards in Newport, Rhode Island. We had planned a weekend in RI as a mini-vacation. We started the day with a tour of Fort Adams, followed by the Breakers Mansion and then headed to Newport Vineyards. I was annoyed that morning that he wanted to get up at 7:00am on our vacation to start the day, little did I know, we were on a strict timeline! We went for a walk in the vines, at which point I exclaimed, “this is my favorite place in Rhode Island,” and the next thing I knew he was down on one knee and I was crying. My amazement continued when I turned around and saw my friend there (which is why we were on the timeline, she had been waiting for an hour in the vines at that point!). We spent the rest of the afternoon celebrating together & calling our loved ones. Later in the evening, we met more friends for dinner and drinks to celebrate some more! He could not have planned a more perfect day for us. We spent the day exploring one of our favorite places and ended it celebrating with some of our favorite people!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Dress shopping with my mom! Seeing her get excited and teary was so surreal. All of this has been surreal, it’s really happening!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We’re determined to stay stress-free and not worry about the little things that are out of our control. Instead, we are focusing on the meaningful and the fun. Mindfulness is everything!

Joy is so different! We don’t want a cookie cutter wedding and that means we don’t want a cookie cutter website. Joy has been the perfect platform for us to create a unique site, full of all the necessary information for our guests.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

We try to find joy in each day, even the tough ones. Our wedding is bringing us, as a couple, copious amounts of joy and we also want to make sure everyone around us feels the same. It’s just as important for us to find joy in each day as it is to help others find that same joy!
