Joy Proposal Story: Jennifer & Gianpiero

Joy Proposal Story: Jennifer & Gianpiero

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Kimberley Ski Resort, during a cold powder day, following a four-day ski camp we both were coaching at, he proposed. He was skiing around with the ring in his pocket and then let me go first and skied down with it in his hand (super risky) only for me to continue skiing and when I finally stopped, I’d crossed over a few runs, unknowingly. He skied around to face me, asked me how much I loved him, then said, “There’s too much snow for me to get down on one knee, but will you marry me?”. I started waving my hands and replied, “absolutely”. We finished the run with a few selfies and when we joined onto the main trail, we ran into friends, who we shared the news with. There’s a little more to the story, but it’s not PG.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Honestly… It’s been pretty stressful! Planning a wedding that immediately follows the busiest time of year for us, ski season, while working seven days a week (and I’m still in the hustle of the season), I think my favorite part will be the actual wedding day. As of right now, the invitations were a big part of it. I’m a graphic designer also. Designing, printing, assembling invites, and finally having them finished and in the mail was satisfying.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I go skiing or take a long bubble bath.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

How easy it has been to populate the information and having an alternative way to communicate with guests, rather than relying on the invitations.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

If you’re not a designer and want a consistent look for everything, take advantage of the print shop!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

A wedding is just one day (two days for us) but the celebration of the two of us coming together is what it’s all about. That celebration is the start of our life together, along with our family and close friends.
