Joy Proposal Story: Jerica & Chris

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Chris proposed on Christmas Eve at a reservoir near my parent’s house. The reservoir is where I used to always run to, it was my spot. I prayed here. I wrestled with the Lord here. The first time Chris came to Newnan, we went to the reservoir. It was here that I shared with him my past, my questioning heart, and my brokenness.

And it was here that he looked at me, smiled and said, “I’m all in.” Little did I know that a year and some change later, we’d be right back in this spot. Except for this time, it would look less like an old reservoir and more like a scene from a Hallmark Christmas movie. And this time, Chris would ask me to be all in, forever.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Finding my wedding dress with my mom, sister, and best friend!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Chris is always quick to remind me that the wedding isn’t our ultimate goal, marriage is. We often take our minds away from the wedding to-do’s and talk about how fun it’s going to be to live together, go on trips together, and what we’re looking forward to the most- never having to say goodbye each night!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

We love that it’s easy to use and that it contains the word JOY. What a perfect description of this fun and exciting season!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Take your time to make all of the pages your own. Change the titles, add your own pictures, it’s really customizable!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

While we are very excited about our wedding day, we realize the Holy covenant we are entering into goes far beyond our wedding. Our wedding isn’t the endpoint, it’s the beginning of us walking together and spreading the ultimate joy, the best joy, Jesus.
