Joy Proposal Story: JJ & Brianna

by Kelsey Vickers

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

For the longest time, JJ had been mentioning that he wanted to go batting (I played softball a good portion of my life). We were having a home-run derby and I was losing. I was talking so much trash because we both are competitive, I even called my dad up to soft toss to me. I had to end on a home run, so when that happened everyone was telling me to run around the bases. Now, this was Texas at the end of July, I did not want to run around! I finally gave in and went to first.

“The memories and experiences that you create with your family and friends while celebrating your love are what it’s all about. “

On the temporary bases that were down, the word WILL was written on it. At first, I didn’t think anything of it because it was our high school softball field and I thought it was just part of an inspirational thing. Obviously, I was wrong. I got to second base and my brother in law had flipped it over and it said YOU. By that time, it clicked in my head what was happening. I walked over to third, flipped it over to find the word MARRY. By the time I turned around to head home, JJ was on his knee with home plate flipped over to say me.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

We have only been planning for about a month but if I had to choose, I would say it’s thinking of ways to make the wedding unique to us. We don’t want to do everything traditionally, we want to make it fun and truly show our personalities.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I haven’t really been stressed over anything. It helps that I am an organized person. I have small goals and big goals paired with a timeline and due dates. Our families have also been very helpful along the way!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

It is so simple to use!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

I don’t even think we are using Joy to its fullest potential, yet! Play around with everything and know that you can always make changes!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Take everything in stride. The memories that you create with your family and friends while celebrating your love are what it’s all about. Enjoy the ride!
