Joy Proposal Story: Jordan & Zach

by Kelsey Vickers

How did the two of you meet?

The first time we met was in high school at the back to school dance. Zach was dancing with Jordan’s best friend, and Jordan was dancing with Zach’s best friend. For some reason, Jordan tried to play matchmaker and set Zach up with one of her friends and got his number to start working her magic. Zach ended up liking Jordan, but Jordan wasn’t interested at first. They actually stopped talking for awhile and one day saw each other in the Subway parking lot. They waved at each other and all was good! When Jordan went in to get lunch, she received a text message from her mother saying, “Who was that cute boy who was really excited to see you?”.  Jordan decided to text him and see how he was doing. The next thing they knew, they were on our first date at Hawaiian Shaved Ice. Zach swears that Jordan was intimidating and scary. The next day they hung out at his house and watched a movie. It was all downhill from that point on. It is amazing to look back and see how their relationship has changed, and how much it has grown when Zach first asked Jordan to be his girlfriend – and now they are getting married!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Zach proposed on Christmas Eve. He didn’t ask Jordan’s Dad for his blessing until two hours before he proposed (he must have felt pretty confident!) Zach was trying to find a way to ask him on Christmas Eve without the entire family noticing, and ended up asking him in the garage when they were getting a beer!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

My favorite experience so far has to be asking my maid of honor and bridesmaids to be a part of my wedding. There were a lot of tears shed! Every time I asked one of them, I knew that they were there to support me!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I love to relieve wedding stress by watching wedding movies. You would think that a bride would want to get away and not think about the wedding, but I think it’s important to laugh about planning and decompress with a glass of wine!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

Joy is so organized and user-friendly! I really researched which website I wanted to use for the wedding, and I found Joy to be the best! It is very customizable, unique, and amazing!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Stay on top of updating your website! Once RSVP’s are sent out, everything must be updated so that your guests are getting the correct information. Then, you aren’t answering a million questions.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

The feeling of joy from your wedding day will be with you forever if you cherish every joyful moment!
