Joy Proposal Story: Karla & Michael

Joy Proposal Story: Karla & Michael

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We went for a hike on the fourth of February (which is summer here in South Africa). We were the only two people hiking that day and it was along a beautiful river, between these massive cliffs, where he proposed. At the end of the hike, we stopped and sat at these stunning rock pools. He started pulling out snacks from the picnic basket and in one container was a little black box.  He then popped the question and I said, “Yes!” Obviously!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

I’ve really loved meeting all our vendors and discussing our plans with them. Everyone we’ve chosen really loves working with weddings and really wants us to have a special day, which makes the planning process so much better!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I think just remembering the point of all this is that you get to marry your fiancé. It doesn’t matter if everything goes wrong as long as on the 14th of September, I get to call myself his wife.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Weddings are a celebration of love! The excitement of a wedding is not just for one day, it symbolizes that you and your partner will get to spend the rest of your lives as a source of joy for one another. To me, that is very exciting!
