Joy Proposal Story: Kelsey & Keith

Joy Proposal Story: Kelsey & Keith

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

He had recently accepted a job in Cleveland. So, we were preparing for a big move and my mom was very sick and only had a month left. Keith, knowing how important it was that my mom be alive when we got engaged, planned a very romantic proposal at the best spot in the city to see the Raleigh skyline. (Unfortunately it was pouring down rain, so the pictures aren’t the best!) After, we immediately Facetimed my mom, who was living in Florida at the time undergoing treatment. The next day we drove to Florida and celebrate with my family.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Making sure the wedding reflects us and not getting stuck in the traditional mindset. Our wedding theme is beer! We are getting married at a brewery (we first bonded over a mutual love for craft beer). We are having pizza instead of traditional catering, and an ice cream sundae bar instead of cake. Oh, and karaoke because we love to be silly together. This wedding sums us up perfectly and we can’t wait for our friends and family to be apart of it!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Keith! We each have things we are in charge of and when I get stressed, he is great about taking some of the stress off my plate and helping me to relax. Beer also helps in this process.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

The customization and all of the neat bells and whistles. I love the fact that I can use Joy for RSVPs instead of asking for them to be mailed back in. How awesome!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Take advantage of the RSVP function. You can add as many questions as you like to find out about your guests. Since we are having pizza, we asked what style of pizza our guests like. We also asked about their favorite beer styles and what music they would like to hear. Then we can export the results to easily organize our list!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

A lot of friends tell me that their weddings were a blur and that they go by so fast. A wedding is a great way to celebrate with friends and family for a couple of hours, but the most exciting part of the wedding is after. Spending a lifetime together is really where true joy is found!
