Joy Proposal Story: Kylee & Austin

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

My girlfriend, Micah, had been bugging me for a girls night for quite awhile and it was finally going to work out with our schedules. We were going to get dressed up and go to dinner at our favorite, Red Lobster! I was heading over to her apartment to meet up with her when she got a call from her boyfriend, Nate, saying his car needed to be jumped. Little did I know that was all a scheme to get my up to Coronado Heights (a scenic old castle in our college town of Lindsborg, KS) As we got to the top of the hill I spotted Austin’s car and asked Micah what Austin was doing up here. She said, “I don’t know, why don’t you go find him and I will try to find Nate”. I found Austin with music playing and champagne on a picnic table. I was so shocked! I turned around and saw Micah with a camera and then Austin asked the question. I, of course, said, “Yes!” but made sure he had talked to my dad first! The pictures from the evening turned out beautiful because Micah captured the sunset and the beautiful rollings hills of Lindsborg in the background.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

I’ve really enjoyed being able to take my time. We planned a three-year engagement because Austin is finishing up Law school. It has been a very joyous time to really pick and plan our options together!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

There have been times when we’ve felt the pressures of money. But, we remind ourselves that we have so many family members helping us out and we have more time than normal to save! We also choose to continue our dating life by celebrating with things we love to do together.

Joy has been so easy to use. I love that the website will be on a mobile app as well. Scheduling and reaching guests will be so much less stressful with Joy!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

I foresee us really using Joy as a means for guests to RSVP. Use Joy for this and save some money on postage!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

In five to ten years, we will be able to look back on our website and see photos that our guests shared. We will be able to read our story during hard times of our marriage and remember why we’re in this together!
