Joy Proposal Story: Leslie & Tyler

Joy Proposal Story: Leslie & Tyler

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Tyler proposed at the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville, Florida. He had been away at Archeology Field School for six weeks and this was our first weekend together since he returned. I had a pretty good idea it was coming because I knew he had ordered the ring prior to leaving. He knows the importance of butterflies to me and how they remind me of my late father who passed away a year prior. He walked me to the Butterfly Garden and got down on one knee. I then realized he had one of our good friends taking pictures off in the distance. After the proposal, he took me home and told me to pack a bag for the night. He had an entire day and evening planned to stay at a local Bed & Breakfast! That morning he went to set up our cottage with rose petals all over, a bouquet of flowers, and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us when we arrived. Later that evening we went to a famous local restaurant, Manuel’s Vintage Room, to continue our celebration! The proposal was more than I could have ever dreamed of. We can’t wait to continue our lives together as husband and wife!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Our favorite experience planning the wedding so far has been meeting with our different vendors. In October, we went to our venue and met with the wedding planner, chef, and floral designer. They have made this entire experience run so smooth!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I honestly am not stressing out. I think it’s because we have 16 months from the time we got engaged until the wedding. I also have been planning my wedding since I was nine years old, so I have a pretty good idea of everything I want! Everyone tells me it will get more stressful as it gets closer and there are more things to do.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I like how user-friendly the website is for both me to design it and for our guests to navigate through it. Joy also has quite a few features that other wedding websites do not.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

I would make sure you understand the website and features prior to sharing it with your guests. We had to go back and add our event code at the last minute with our invitation designers. It was no big deal but it is important to understand how it all works.
