Mackenzie was not interested in being set up—but at the prompting of a friend (and a tiny bit of trickery)—she ended up at a local bar watching football. This is where she met Geoff. They immediately hit it off and Geoff asked for Mackenzie’s number. Not long after, he asked her for her hand in marriage. Mackenzie gives us the proposal story details and shares some ways to stay sane during wedding planning.
Give us the details! When? Where? How?
We were in Bermuda to celebrate Geoff’s 30th birthday in September. The second day of the trip we had a perfect day – we rented a scooter to explore, played in the waves and went on a Jet Ski safari. Then we decided to get dressed to ride our scooter into town for dinner.
It was a nice reminder that the wedding is about us and not all of the things.
Geoff was insistent on going to the beach first. We rode down to the beach, got a drink and decided we’d take a photo before heading to dinner. Geoff went to ask a couple to take our photo. After a few photos Geoff turned to me and got down on one knee!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
I love spending so much time looking through ideas on Pinterest & magazines and imagining how the day will turn out for us.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Last time I got a stressed out, Geoff stopped me and played one of our favorite songs. It was a nice reminder that the wedding is about us and not all of the things.
