Joy Proposal Story: Nathan & Nicole

by Allie Grampa

Nathan and Nicole lived in the same neighborhood. Nicole was walking into the clubhouse for an HOA meeting while Nathan happened to be walking by with his puppy. He noticed her right away, and decided to follow her into the clubhouse. He popped in and realized it was a private meeting, so he said hi to Nicole and then left. Later he mentioned to a friend that he saw a cute blonde walking into the clubhouse. Turns out that friend was a mutual friend and they immediately set out on a mission to set them up. It worked!

Give us the details! When? Where? How?

We took a mini vacation at a small bed in breakfast in Tryon, NC. I love doing puzzles, so once we got back to the room we sat down and he pulled out a puzzle that he had made with a picture of a place he loved to visit as a kid. Mid-way through I realized the words “Will You Marry Me” in the puzzle. I was in disbelief! He dropped on one knee and proposed. Super romantic, intimate and unique just like I hoped it would be.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

I love design and creativity, so the table décor , theme, and the flowers have been my favorite so far.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Sometimes we get in little tiffs and don’t agree certain aspects of the wedding. When that happens, we take a minute to cool down and then keep focused on the fact that we love each other and the only thing that matters is our love and happiness. That works every time!

Make sure to fill out more info than you think is necessary to avoid people emailing and calling about questions. And make sure you put the wedding code on the Save the Dates and invitations if you add the wedding website!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy should last forever. What does that mean to you?

That is a great saying. To me, that means find joy in each other every day for a lasting relationship.
