Here’s a magical (literally) proposal story for you: Paula and Adam, who met through mutual friends while Adam was stationed in Alexandria, Virginia for an Army assignment, got engaged at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida.

During a trip to Florida to visit the Wizarding World of Harry PotterPaula, who is terrified of heights, was trying to work up the courage to go on a rollercoaster. As her steps took her closer to the monstrosity, her fear became more apparent. Here she was at Universal Studios, miles away from home, and rapidly wondering why she ever said “Yes” to such an adventure.
After taking a few more breaths, she realized that everyone in her party was putting their wands away prior to joining the crowd of riders to keep them safe during the ride. She turned slightly and asked Adam, “Can I please have my box back to put my wand in?”
Adam smiled widely and replied, “Sure.”
But when Paula opened the case, she realized that its original contents had been swapped out for a tiny burgundy box. She softly whispered, “No…”, and moved her gaze from the tiny box towards Adam’s face, which always described immense levels of love and adoration without a word.
“Will you marry me? Or was that your answer?” he asked slyly.
Paula began to cry and nod, and suddenly remembered why she said, “Yes” to such an adventure to begin with.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
For Paula, it’s been looking at bridesmaids dresses! So cute! But often times, we both catch ourselves daydreaming and speaking dreamily about the wedding-to-be while laying in bed.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
We work out all the time together and lately have been going on runs through the neighborhood to clear our heads. Also, my sister (our maid-of-honor) is the BEST at perfecting every detail that we want for the wedding.
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
The ease of use. I’ve loved being able to design our website to suit my preferences. Also, I love that Joy gives me all the tools I need without making you have to pay for them.
