Joy Proposal Story: Rachel & Nii

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

May 18th, 2018. A fun fact about Rachel is that she loves art. I’ve been to more museums with her since we’ve been together than my entire life combined! So with the help of some incredible friends, I turned a space at Eurasia Coffee & Tea (our favorite coffee shop in Springfield) into an art gallery, with all the art centered around our relationship. I had 12 unbelievably talented and gracious friends create pieces for us. Each piece of art was totally unique and highlighted a different part/aspect/memory of our relationship. I took her there after her graduation (which we celebrated separately the next day because that deserves its own time) and had a surprise party afterward at our favorite park with all our close family and friends!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Being able to fully dream about our future together. We were careful not to talk about “our” kids, etc. when we were just dating. So having that fully “unlocked” is the best.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

One step at a time! We both draw on each other’s strength when we need it!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

The customization and it’s free!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Take your time with it but enjoy it all!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

We both are Christian. For us, joy isn’t simply an emotion. Joy is evidence of God inside of us. We can be stressed, frustrated, or even angry and still have and choose joy. That’s what allows us to live each day to the fullest.
