Robert and McKenzie met through mutual friends. Their meticulously planned proposal—including a walk on the beach where Robert and McKenzie had their first date—is practically out of a story book. McKenzie gives us the details and shares her advice on how to stay sane during wedding planning.
Give us the details! When? Where? How?
Robert’s sister Katie planned a “long overdue” double date with her boyfriend Alex, Robert and McKenzie as the proposal coverup. Katie suggested brunch and wine tasting in Half Moon Bay, which coincidentally was the location of Robert and McKenzie’s first date. They started their day with brunch at Miramar Beach Restaurant, mainly for the cocktails and ocean views. Having no idea of Robert’s plan to propose, McKenzie suggested a “walk on beach” before heading to the first winery.
It was 75 degrees and sunny! Katie asked, “Can you take pictures of me and Alex, and then I’ll take pictures of you and Robert?” After a couple different poses, McKenzie leaned in for a kiss and then Robert pulled away to take a knee in the sand. He said “McKenzie Rose Campana…”
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
We’ve really enjoyed all of the opportunities to celebrate with our family and friends.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Drink wine, a lot of wine! And surround yourself with awesome friends who want to help out.
