Joy Proposal Story: Samantha & Michael

by Kelsey Vickers

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Michael proposed on the three year anniversary of the day that we met, we usually celebrate our anniversary with dinner or a date night. This particular anniversary, Michael planned a dinner at our favorite local steakhouse. I noticed that throughout dinner he was very fidgety, on his phone constantly, and barely talking to me. To be honest, I was getting pretty annoyed! I had to keep asking him to pay attention to our dinner date, but I could tell that his mind was elsewhere. After dessert, Michael handed me his phone and said look at this picture slideshow I made of us… which is not like him at all! I thought, “What? You made a slideshow?” He yelled at me to keep looking at it! He collected photos and arranged them to music to display in chronological order of when we first met. The last picture was of a ring, and a post-it note that said, “Will you marry me?”

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Finally deciding on the location! That was a difficult task, there are so many things to consider. Our decision to have a romantic destination wedding was comforting to know that we are on our way! Our friends and family have been waiting a long time.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Wine! Plus, great friends to keep us calm!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

The RSVP function is better than other sites I tried. I like that it’s easy to add guests and gives flexibility to collecting information from guests.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Look at other sites and compare. Once you do, you will see how much easier this site makes everything!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Happiness is a process. Find the joy in each step. If you can take the time to enjoy the small steps, the big steps will be even better.
