Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
I had once told Shane that my dad proposed to my mom on Christmas Day. In keeping with tradition, he proposed on Christmas Eve by doing a “smoke alarm challenge.” Shane is the Fire Prevention Officer in our hometown and had told me weeks prior to our engagement that a bunch of firefighters were taking photos for a smoke alarm challenge. One Christmas Eve, we had just arrived home from an evening out when Shane mentioned having me help with his challenge video. He had me push the button on the alarm – nothing. All I could think was “I’m dating a firefighter and don’t even know how to make a smoke detector sound!” I tried a second time – nothing. Shane pulled the alarm down and in place of the batteries was an engagement ring!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
The whole thing has been an experience in itself but if I had to pick my favorite thing so far, I’d say dress shopping!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Write everything down! Once I have it on paper to not forget, I have an easier time letting go and relaxing for a bit. Talking to my mom is also a big help!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I believe that Shane and I experience joy every day. We live together with our fur baby, Bennett, and we already feel like a little family!
