How did the two of you meet?
We met while opening a restaurant together!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
The proposal was in Philadelphia on the gazebo overlooking Boathouse Row. We both work in the restaurant business, so time off is limited! Every year for our anniversary we go on a small domestic trip. We like to check out the best restaurants in other cities, maybe catch a live show and just cram as much exploring as possible into our short time off together. We also like to pick a city that we’ve never been to. So, I found flights into Philly which happens to be right in between our two families.

I arranged to have everyone come up and surprise Steph after the engagement. It gave us some private time to enjoy our new engagement before going to dinner where our families were waiting. After dinner, friends starting showing up in waves. One by one, most of our closest friends and dearest family were there celebrating with us!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
The best experience so far was deciding to get rid of most of the “norms” and plan our own wedding. We are building it from the ground up and it couldn’t be a more exciting experience.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Honestly, we stay sane by knowing that we are getting married and it’s going to be an amazing day no matter what happens!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
It’s been relatively easy to add or take out what we want and what we don’t want. We like that we can customize the website to our liking.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Get on often! Also, know your login details and make sure to tell the person that usually remembers them.
