Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Ivann had arranged a couple’s photo shoot with a fellow friend photographer during the beautiful season of fall where all the trees were changing colors. The shooting was scheduled to be in a National park and mountain in Saint-Bruno, Quebec. Since I (Stephanie) knew Ivann never wanted to get married (as he told me over and over again in the past), I never in a million years thought this would happen! Just as we were about to start the shooting, we were standing face to face holding hands when Ivann told me something in his shoe was itching. I told him to go ahead and scratch, that the photographer would wait haha!

So I turned around to admire the scenery and just enjoy the beautiful autumn day. Then I heard Ivann say “My love…?” as I turned around to face him, he was on one knee, holding the ring box in his hand and asking me if I wanted to marry him!!! My first reaction was to take a step back and ask him if it was a joke! I asked him so many times in the past why he didn’t want to get married that I had assumed it would just never happen. I think I asked him 3 or 4 times if it was true and that it wouldn’t be a funny joke to make. After the proposal, we went on with the photo shoot and now have the best souvenirs ever!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Building this website is really fun! Haven’t tasted our menu yet, but I’m sure I’ll have a lot of pleasure doing that too!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Since I’m a wedding photographer, I’ve been and seen so many weddings in the past 10 years that I know what needs to be done and when. I booked the big suppliers quickly to get that over with and keeping the details and small things for when I have some spare time. Plus, having a kick-ass maid of honor and a great wedding planner helps tons!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
I love how easy it is to fill out and how quickly I get responses when I have a question.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Take the time to go through everything, and ask any question you have!
