Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
We went on a trip to Scotland and we hiked Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in Scotland. On our way down from the summit he had us stop at a waterfall, but there were midges so we carried on right away. I got some distance away, but I could see that he was climbing down the waterfall. I was yelling at him to stop and climb back up because I didn’t want him to get hurt! Turns out he had spotted a carnation someone had thrown. He brought it to me and handed it to me. I thought it was pretty cute. I turned around to get going when he stopped me and started asking me questions he would not normally ask. He asked, “Do you like hiking with me?” and I said, “Yes.” “Do you want to hike with me forever…?” and I answered the same. Before I knew it he was down on one knee and put the ring on (the wrong hand at first!). He asked and I said, “Yes!” and pulled him up for a kiss. Needless to say, I was on a high for the rest of the descent!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Getting to tell everybody!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Take a lot of breaks. Don’t stress about it being “perfect.”
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
The simplicity. Other websites gave me anxiety with all the lists and pop-up advice that doesn’t necessarily apply to us. I just wanted something streamlined and that only acts as a website, not a wedding planner!
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Put a lot of pictures on your website and fill out everything! The website allows for this all to be so easy.
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
It’s great that our website can still exist after the wedding and can be used for photo sharing!
