Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
We were in town visiting family for a holiday when Frank suggested we head to our Alma Mater to take photos with our best friends and godson by the lakefront. When I went to hand my camera over to our friend, I turned around and Frank was on one knee. Since we had been together so long and I was not expecting it (I’m not easily surprised), I thought he was joking! After I figured out he was not, we popped a bottle of champagne and celebrated with our sweet friends who were in on the surprise.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Watching all of the little details come together is so exciting. We also enjoyed asking our bridal party to be a part of our special day.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
I focus on the heart of the matter, I don’t want just a beautiful wedding, I want a beautiful marriage. So I go cuddle up with my fiancé with a glass of wine (an IPA for him), pizza and a competitive game of Scrabble. It gives us a chance to step away from wedding planning for a little bit and just enjoy each other.
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
I love the ease of having everything on one website (RSVPs, Shared Photos, Itinerary, etc.) and I love the blog that highlights real people and real weddings. Plus, the design is fresh, customizable and user-friendly. It’s also very exciting when someone joins your wedding from your guest list, it sends you an alert on your phone if you have the app!
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Browse the blog for resources and check back often as Joy is always updating and adding new designs. Their team is quick with responses and so helpful!
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
Joy is found in the journey! I am so excited to begin this new adventure being married to my best friend. Joy will come from our lifetime spent together.
