Qiana and Robert met in high school—9th grade tech class to be precise. They’ve been together for 12 years, and they both knew when the time was right because each planned a proposal for one another.
Give us the details! When? Where? How?
Robert proposed to me on my 21st birthday at midnight in front on my parents and siblings. He gave me a gigantic cookie with “Will you marry me?” written on it! When I proposed, I did it on Sweetest Day for his 24th birthday in Detroit, MI. We were at an attraction called Airtime, and it was in front of his fraternity brothers and our closest friends.
Even with the bumps in the road everyday I am grateful and happy that I was the one blessed to spend the rest of my life with him.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Just about everything—but menu tasting has probably been the most exciting for me since I am now nine months pregnant!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
I always tell myself, its just one day. And if all else fails, at the end of the day, I’ll still get to marry Robert.
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
That guest can download the app if they want and that when someone RSVPs it can be personalized.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Always look for ways to make your website fun and make people want to keep coming back to view it!
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
I’ve been with Robert for 12 years, and even with the bumps in the road everyday I am grateful and happy that I was the one blessed to spend the rest of my life with him, to become his wife and the mother of his children. That is joy to me.
