Joy Proposal Story: Melissa & Robert

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Walt Disney World, Epcot, September 29, 2018. Every year for my birthday, I love to go to Epcot. It has become one of our favorite parks and not to mention, the Food and Wine Festival is always going on at that time! So just like any other year, I texted our group of friends to let them know that the tradition would be continuing. We planned the whole thing, booked the rooms, had custom shirts made, packed our bags and headed out. I was so excited to be back at Disney! (Yes, we can never get enough! That morning as we were getting dressed, everyone was super excited and I was eager to get to the park. As we got to the park, I was secretly hoping a proposal would happen! We passed the legacy walls, where I first told Robert I loved him, and the proposal didn’t happen. It was at that moment I was convinced that I would not be getting engaged.

We continued walking through the park, heading to the world showcase. As usual, I had been joking with Robert’s dad that I didn’t have to listen to Robert because I didn’t have a ring. As we began to pass the fountain, I noticed our friend Nicole standing straight ahead. I took a few more steps and stopped because I saw my dad. A second look, I saw my little sister and took another double take to realize it really was my dad. Not knowing what to do, I take a few VERY SLOW steps forward when I heard from behind, “You can’t go too far”. That’s when my heart fell out of its chest. I slowly pivoted around to see Robert on his knee. Out of breath, I walked to him slowly and he opened the box. When I saw the ring, I could not believe my eyes and started to cry. Robert looked up at me and said, “I thought I would be able to talk but yeah, no …. will you marry me?”. In complete shock, I said, “Yes!” and we both started to cry. Our hands were shaking, no one could put the ring on, our friends and family started running up to us and it was more magical than I could’ve ever imagined. My best friend Veronica popped out with custom shirts for Robert and I. They all brought photo props and custom koozies and a day that was planned, in my head, to celebrate my birthday turned into a day I will never forget!
