How did the two of you meet?
In a Nightclub in Newcastle. He offered to buy me a drink… and then asked me to pay!!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
He had planned a big proposal on a private chartered boat in Halong bay, Vietnam over an 8 course dinner. But, shortly before the trip and proposal (which had been planned for sometime) we got pregnant! Put it this way – boats and morning sickness do not mix and the proposal was ruined! In the end it was in my home town Conwy in North Wales, where we went on a walk in the wind and the rain, very wrapped up along my favorite beach. I was telling him I used to go there as a child and as a teenager… and he said, “Well you can come back here as a mother and also as a wife” then I turned around and he was down on one knee in the rain, wind and wet sand, asking me to marry him!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Looking at all the favors I can make. I love being creative! I want to dye sand off the beach we are planning to get married on and make patterns in glass bottles for the guests with cute home made labels and their names!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
I want a very relaxed wedding which helps in planning… but probably wine! Wine solves everything!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
Adding photographs and quirky bits of information. Like – Dress code – No shoes allowed!!
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
To go a bit crazy and whacky and try to put a bit of personality and a personal touch behind your website, rather than trying to be too formal. The people that are attending are your loved ones, family and friends! it is not a corporate event… have a bit of fun! I have added silly bios to mine, for people that maybe only know the bride and the groom – like who is the messiest… favorite food… etc.
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
I believe its the whole story. I have quoted on my website… every love story is great, but ours is our favorite. I believe a love story doesn’t start and end with a wedding.. it is simply an amazing middle chapter as part of your book.
