Alexandra and Matthew met in public speaking class in college—it was Alexandra’s second year and Matt’s. They actually went to the same High School but never crossed paths since they were one grade apart. Six and a half years later, they’re paths are intertwined, and on their seventh anniversary, they’ll celebrate their wedding!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
It was April 29, 2016, two days after Matt’s birthday. I took a half day off from work to get home early to spend some extra time with him. I was home for probably about 45 minutes to an hour, and we were just watching TV together. Matt got up to walk into the kitchen and asked me if I wanted something sweet.
I replied, “Nooo.” (I think I was supposed to say yes!) He came back to me and said, “Well, I brought you something sweet anyway.” He handed me the ring box and asked me to marry him. It wasn’t extravagant, but it was us and perfect. He was so nervous. It was pretty cute!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
My favorite experience about planning the wedding has been incorporating things that we both love, and also finding great deals from our vendors! We are planning on having a food truck, and hopefully a donut truck too! I’ve loved seeing how involved and excited Matt gets when we are working on the wedding planning. So far it has been pretty fun!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
I haven’t felt too much stress yet, but I’m sure it will come. I think just trying to stay as calm as possible and work together to solve any issues will help both of us stay sane during this process.
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I would say to try to utilize as many features that Joy offers as possible. This will help you stay sane/organized, and also help your guests get all of the information they need!
