Joy Proposal Story: Allyson & Jack

Joy Proposal Story: Allyson & Jack

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

On our very first date, we took photobooth pictures together. Ever since then, we take pictures at every photobooth we come across. Jack got one of my co-workers to convince me to join them at a bar after work on Friday. There was a photo booth at the bar, so we, of course, had to take pictures. While we were posing for our first photo, Jack got down on one knee and popped the question by handing me a photobooth strip of just him holding the words “Will You Marry Me?” He had gone to that same photobooth weeks prior to taking the photos (and it took him several times to get it right!). I had no idea it was coming, and we have a great photobooth strip of my reaction!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Since we are planning a destination wedding, I not only get to plan the wedding day itself, I also get to plan an Irish vacation! Although it’s more work, it is fun to be able to plan a whole week long experience for us and our guests.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We try to plan everything together and make sure each of us is on board with every decision. We have “Weddings & Wings” night where we go out to a bar for Jack’s favorite food, chicken wings, and sneak in some wedding planning as well.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

Since we are having a destination wedding, I wanted our wedding website to be a one-stop shop for our guests. Somewhere they’re able to get all of the information they need for both the wedding day and their travel plans. Joy has so many options available to customize and provide detailed information to our guests to help them plan their entire trip around the wedding.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Guests are so reliant on wedding websites these days! Input as much information as you can into all of the sections Joy provides. That way, there will be fewer questions for your guests to come directly to you to ask. Joy’s RSVP section is also great in organizing your guests’ information. We will be using this section to send updates on all of the events we are planning up to, and after the wedding.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Anyone can throw a fantastic wedding. If you don’t have the love, happiness, and friendship to support a relationship after a wedding, then all you really had was a big party. There needs to be meaning and love behind the wedding that will last you through the years of your marriage.
