Joy Proposal Story: Amanda & JT

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We decided to move from Southern California to Nashville, TN a little over a year ago. We have a Great Dane, so we decided to drive across the country and make it a fun little vacation with several stops along the way. The first stop in our drive was this amazing glamping place called Under the Canvas in Mt. Zion, Utah that JT’s mom found for us. Even with us being together for three years at that point, I never once thought about him proposing. Especially on this trip as he was acting completely normal and I thought I would be able to tell if he was going to do it! JT went in to check us in while I took our dog for a walk. While inside, he told the staff and asked for a tent a little more private and secluded and for them to send some champagne. We put our stuff away in the tent and could not get over how beautiful it was there. I suggested we walk up the hill near our tent and set up our camera to take photos. He agreed, of course, and apparently had the ring in his coat pocket. We set up his phone on a chair with the video recording. Our dog was running around wild and having the time of his life! We were posing for the video (to take screenshots from the video for cute photos) when JT started saying all these romantic and very thoughtful things. I looked at him and he pulled out a ring box in his pocket and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was very personal, intimate, and private. It was absolutely perfect!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

We’ve been engaged for over a year. With a big move and job promotions, we decided to hold off on planning for a little bit. We’ve recently just started and so far it’s been creating our save the dates and working on our website! I’m a very creative and artsy person and I will be making a lot of the decorations so that will be my most favorite part!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Maybe since I am just starting, I haven’t really thought about it much. I just want it to be a laid back, fun time for everyone. There is no need to overthink or plan too much because people don’t remember the small things.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

Joy is so easy to use and looks unique over every other basic website builders we looked at!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Play around with it for a while. I enjoyed having a glass of wine and just diving in to start working!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

The main purpose of a wedding is to unite two people and their families. It’s all about love and promising that love to one another, forever. Along with partying it up with friends for the day!
