Joy Proposal Story: Audrey & Jose

by Cali Pitchel

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

I (Jose) proposed on Fathers’ Day 2016 on the side of the Lincoln Memorial that faces Arlington, Virginia in Washington, DC. The Lincoln Memorial is special to us because we walked there after dinner on our second date and talked for hours.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

For me (Audrey), it’s been learning more about Jose through asking him his opinions and discovering more details about his thought process. Finding the dress with my mom was a highlight and our reception tasting was a great time!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Hiring a wedding planner (Adriel Nutter Events) and staying very organized! It truly has been a team effort among our wedding planner, my mom, me, and Jose. It’s interesting, we’re getting close to the wedding and we now have a peace about it and are simply looking forward to the celebration!
We hope our wedding day is filled with moments of joy, for everyone there. We hope the memories of that joy will stay on our minds and hearts and help sustain our marriage!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

That it’s easy, quick to set-up and use, and user friendly. You can make updates as you continue your planning process. I really like that you can keep certain sections private until you’re ready to share with guests.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Know that you can make changes as you go, your website does not have to be perfect in the beginning! Check out Joy’s example websites for design ideas.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Joy is one of the primary emotions that makes life worth living and an emotion we can experience very early in our lives. We hope our wedding day is filled with moments of joy, for everyone there. We hope the memories of that joy will stay on our minds and hearts and help sustain our marriage!
