Joy Proposal Story: Brooke & Jason

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We met while working for Royal Caribbean on the Radiance of the Seas.

How long have you been together?

Just over three years!
I can’t wait to be married and experience all of the adventures we have ahead!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

He was planning on taking me to an alley in Melbourne, Australia, that’s filled with graffiti. A friend had shown him some graffiti that said, “Marry me, Brooke?” so Jason wanted to take me there, propose, and then take me to dinner at my favorite restaurant, Chops. However, I had no idea and thought we were just going to go out for lunch that day! When my boss suggested a team dinner for Melbourne night at Chops, I thought it was a great idea and said that Jason and I would go. The day before we were going to be in Melbourne, a friend was down at the bar, and as he didn’t have any plans for the next day, I invited him out to lunch with us. Jason started acting quiet, and I couldn’t figure out what was going on. After we got back to the cabin that night, I tried asking what was wrong, and he ended up pulling out the ring, getting down on one knee, and proposing right there in the cabin!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

My favorite part has been figuring out the details with the beautiful place we’re getting married in Denmark. Danish Island Weddings have helped make everything easier, and I’m so excited to go there!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I haven’t felt much pressure yet. We’ve had a hard time figuring out the best way to get married since Jason is from England and I’m from the U.S., but I think we’ve finally figured out a great way to celebrate with everyone!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

It’s very easy to use, so far!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

I am still learning about all of the ways to use Joy, so I would suggest asking for help if you need it!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

It means that while a wedding is an exciting thing to plan, the bigger excitement should come from spending your life with the person that you love. I can’t wait to be married and experience all of the adventures we have ahead!
