Joy Proposal Story: Cheerish & Patrese

by Allie Grampa

What is it they say? Opposites attract? The saying couldn’t be more appropriate for Cheerish and Patrese. They found each other when neither of them was looking, but all of their friends knew it was only a matter of time before they made it official. Now they’re planning their wedding and sharing their advice on how to stay sane during wedding planning!

The commitment and promise that we will make to one another with love, respect, trust, and joy will last for our life time.

Give us the details! When? Where? How?

It was everything I could have hoped for. We were surrounded by supportive family and friends in Dallas, Texas. It is to my knowledge that everyone knew about it except me. During an evening in we decided to play a team style game of Taboo. There were so many hilarious enactments and performances, but the best part of the game came with an engaging question.

“Will you marry me?” and then came the ugly cry! I could barely contain myself, my ring was beautiful and my future bride-to-be was more than I could ever imagine.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Our favorite part so far has been creating a video invitation for our bridal party. In our wedding we have six bridesmaids and six bro-maids. We created a fun music video to ask if each one would be in our wedding.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Planning a wedding can be so extremely stressful but staying organized and communication has been what keeps our heads above water. Also compromise, it has taken lots and lots of compromise.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy should last forever. What does that mean to you?

To us that symbolizes the journey we are going to be taking after our wedding day! With our wedding we have spent a lot of time planning and developing what we feel will be the perfect day for us. Even with 18 months of planning our wedding will only last for a few hours but the commitment and promise that we will make to one another with love, respect, trust, and joy will last for our life time.
