Joy Proposal Story: Cory & Tasha

by Cali Pitchel

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We swiped right. (Thanks, Tinder.)

He fell in love with the picture of her on a Corvette, she with his photo of him in a silk cowboy suit. As cory was dieting for his first fitness competition, which Tasha had already dabbled in, they headed out to a bowling ally for their first date since dieting requires no outside food or alcohol. True to themselves, he showed up in jeans and a t-shirt, she in a pair of leggings and a tank top straight from volleyball. I mean, first impressions are everything right?

You cant always control the event, but you can ALWAYS control your reaction WHICH directly determines the outcome. I am grateful for every second, especially the ones that don’t go as planned.

Tasha was pretty impressed that Cory had recalled some of the things they had been chatting about on Tinder as they got to know one another. After Tasha beat him at darts (not really), they moved on to bowling, to which Cory won—only by a small margin. They immediately agreed that Corvettes, brunch and Oreos were some of life’s greatest gifts and continued to compete on every date thereafter.

Shortly after they began dating, Cory’s job transferred him to Georgia. Tasha knew in her heart and soul that she was meant to go along. They moved to Georgia in August 2014. For Tasha’s birthday, Cory decided to surprise her by flying her best friend, Jessica, in. Little did Tasha or Jessica know at the time, Cory brought her down to be a part of their engagement. On the special day of Halloween, while hiking up a local mountain, Cory got down on one knee and said he wanted them to spend the rest of their lives together.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Knowing our friends are excited to come on vacation with us to Costa Rica!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I am super low key about the whole thing. It’s really a vacation with a wedding thrown in, but in any stressful situation, I stick with the “no plan plan” and just go with the flow. No sense in throwing a fit over things—you just have to control the controllable. My favorite concept in life is “E+R=O”: Event + Reaction = The Outcome.

You cant always control the event, but you can ALWAYS control your reaction WHICH directly determines the outcome. I am grateful for every second, especially the ones that don’t go as planned.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I am terrible with website stuff. I asked a great friend to just do it for me, and 45 minutes later she sent me the link to my Joy site and it’s been a BREEZE to customize!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Work step by step, start with the basics, then come back to it and dive into the details.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

THIS is exactly why were are going to “go for a vacation and stay for a wedding.” We get to create a week’s worth of memories with our favorite people on earth, the wedding DAY is just the official time for us to share OUR love with the world.
