Joy Proposal Story: Dorian & Marcus

Joy Proposal Story: Dorian & Marcus

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

I (Marcus) decided to propose but I could not find the right time to do it. I bought the ring earlier in the week and just kept it. I knew I wanted to change the tickets for a plane ride we were taking and the computer was not letting me do so. My passport created quite the ordeal but I managed to get us into 2 business class seats next to each other only when we arrived at the airport to check in. Dorian was wondering why I was being so crazy. It was not until 6 hours into a 9-hour flight did I find the right place to propose – Greenland! I nervously went to the bathroom to recover the ring from where I stashed it and to rehearse what I thought I wanted to say. Finally as the lights dimmed, and the privacy curtains came up, I got down on one knee. The only problem now was Dorian had fallen asleep. I had taken too long. I should have known better than to tap her leg. Next thing I know, she nearly punched me in the throat from fright. Well now that I had her attention, I asked her… and she said, “Yes!” We seemed to giggle the rest of the flight.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Creating a collage of the type of wedding I wanted. I loved picking all the details that helped to make that a reality.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We exercise and make food together, we laugh, we play with our son, we take a moment each day to show gratitude! We also focus on how lucky we are. We get a chance to celebrate a magnificent moment in our lives with friends and family!
