Hansen and Donna met in the summer of 2009, while participating in a business competition hosted by a local youth organization. They were on the same team, and of course, they took home the gold. It was a sign they made a great pair. Six years later, they’re planning their wedding!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
We went to the same University as well, go Western Mustangs! Six years later, Hansen popped the question during an university homecoming trip on campus. We had been doing a tour of the school for some friends who didn’t attend the school and snapping a few photos here and there. On top of the iconic UC Hill, while posing for a couple’s shot, he suddenly dropped on one knee and popped the question.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
For her: Wedding dress shopping with the girls.
For him: An excuse to eat cake, lots of it.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
For her: Being a media planner in real life, it came pretty naturally. We set up a budget and I went to work.
For him: As long as I don’t do anything stupid, I think I’m helping.
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
The UI is incredibly intuitive and lets me cover all dimensions of my wedding and more.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Don’t be afraid to experiment with everything the site and app has to offer. Having a wedding website is important and necessary in today’s tech driven world.

The wedding isn’t a stand-alone celebration but the beginning of the rest of our lives. The wedding may be just a day, but the promise to sharing a lifetime of joyous moments is eternal.
