Joy Proposal Story: Harlee & Michael

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

It was the day after my birthday and we were supposed to be going to my grandparent’s house for a family birthday. He came to pick me up from my house to take me but we ended up at his house instead. We got inside, and my whole family (out-of-towners and all) were waiting there! I didn’t just get a surprise birthday party that night, I got a surprise engagement too! In front of my whole family, which really means the world to me.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Traveling to different places around Texas to visit different venues.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

When I get frustrated, I just remind myself that this is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. I calm myself down because I know that if I don’t enjoy the planning, I will look back on it and be mad at myself!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

Joy is so easy to use, has everything we need, and covers things I would have never thought of!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Make sure you both have access to edit your website rather than just one person doing it all. This way, any mistakes are more likely to be caught and it is also good to see both points of views!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Your wedding shouldn’t be the highlight of your marriage. If you’re more excited about the wedding than actually getting married, then it’s not right! You should be equally excited for both, and then your joy will last longer than just your wedding day.
