Joy Proposal Story: Jacqui & Chris

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

Although we attended the same high school for two y
ears, we didn’t formally meet until 2011 through a mutual friend.
“Joy is about enJOYing every piece of your engageme
nt, wedding planning and memories that come along with the process.”

How long have you been together?

We’ve been together for six years! After dating for
a couple months Chris moved to Spain, but ended up back in Jacksonville and now we’ve lived together for two years.

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Chris traveled across the country to San Francisco for a business trip in December of 2016 and asked me to come meet him for the weekend- which of course, I was so excited to do! We had the best day which started at 6 a.m. We visited the Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, Sonoma and Napa Valley (for a little wine tasting), and finally ended up back at our hotel at the top of Nob Hill. He wanted to visit Twin Peaks that night, but I convinced him to enjoy the view from our hotel instead (it had been a long day). Little did I know I was ultimately leading us to the spot he would propose. We popped a bottle of wine we bought in Sonoma and took in the amazing view overlooking San Francisco. He didn’t seem nervous, but was annoyed at this woman that was sitting on her balcony that could see us. He’s a very private guy, so he wanted to do it alone, so he waited for her to go in. Once she did, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I was so excited I didn’t wait for him to put the ring on my finger, I just took it out of the box! He finally asked me after a minute if that was a yes (I never actually said it), and I confirmed DEFINITELY!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Honestly, it’s been super easy. I’m handling the logistics of the wedding and he’s taking care of the honeymoon!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I just try to remember that it’s ultimately about our love for one another and all the rest, is just details. Also, no wedding is perfect. Years later the hiccups make for the best stories!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

The elegance of the website attracted me to it and it’s so user friendly!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Make sure to send people the desktop version also, it’s even more beautiful than the mobile!
