Joy Proposal Story: Jessica & Mahesh

Joy Proposal Story: Jessica & Mahesh

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

He organized a surprise party at The Barnhouse in Sri Lanka with all my friends and family for my birthday. When it was closer to midnight, he started a fake fight with my best friend just so that he could disappear to get ready to propose. At 12PM sharp, I got 28 roses, one by one, from my friends. Then, a group of dancers started dancing in front of me to the song “I like me better when I’m with you”.  Toward the end of the song, they made an opening for Mahesh to walk through with the 29th rose (because it was my 29th birthday) in his hand. He came over, gave me the rose and said, “Thank you for coming into my life”. He then got down on his knee and I didn’t think twice to say, “Yes!”

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

We have so much fun planning the wedding! Every part of it is has been my favorite.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Mahesh is professionally known for his event management skills in Sri Lanka. We have equally divided responsibilities and since we both have experience with events, it hasn’t been much pressure.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love that our guests can RSVP on our website and that we can send them invitations through the platform. Joy makes it so easy!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Using Joy keeps reminding me that our wedding is not a big day of rushing and stress. Joy reminds me of the past with my better half and excites me about the future. Every bride wants their wedding to be perfect, I just want to remember every second of it. There may be a few flaws on that day. Someone might forget something, things may not go in order, things might not happen on time, but don’t let that stress you out. Look at everyone who has come to bless you and your partner, moreover, look at your partner. Everything about your wedding day should be the happiness and love you see in each other’s eyes. The only way my wedding will be imperfect is if the man I love is not beside at the altar! Everything else is for us to enjoy the way it is.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

What excites me most is the ceremony, walking down the aisle to the man I love, our vows, exchanging rings and making our lifelong promise.  The rest of my life starts at that very moment! The joy that I will experience as I say, “I Do”, is the joy that I’m going to experience for the rest of my life. It means new memories, it means extending our love into a family, it means I have my person to sit beside when I’m old, reminiscing our memories.
