Joy Proposal Story: Kelsey & Scott

by Kelsey Vickers

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Scott and I were traveling to my hometown of North Bay, Ontario for a friends wedding. We both work for the school board in Waterloo. We have our summers off so we decided to leave on Thursday to have an extra day to hang out with my family. We were almost in North Bay when Scott suggested that we spend our afternoon at this restaurant we both really like called The Boat, which is located right on the water. Summer was almost over so we thought we would go for a nice walk by the water and then stop at The Boat for a last summer drink. After we were done at the restaurant Scott suggested that we go for a walk by the rocks. When we got to the rocks, Scott started to talk about how much he loves me and how lucky we were to have had such an amazing summer together. He then proceeded to say, “I think I know a way that we could make this summer that much better…” I turned around and he was down on one knee! He told me he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I started to cry, gave him a big hug and kiss and said, “Yes!”

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Talking to all of the vendors and envisioning everything all put together at the end!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Honestly, Scott is such a helpful groom and has helped me so much already. He truly takes the pressure off the planning. Him… and a lot of wine!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

It’s such an easy and fun way to share our day with all of our family and friends! When I start to feel overwhelmed with the other plans, I go to our wedding website and it’s such a relaxing way to still plan the wedding, without all the stress!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

I would say take your time! When I first signed onto Joy I was so excited that I wanted to do it all in one day! But, it’s such a fun experience and I would tell other brides to look at the website as another important part of the planning experience. Take your time, enjoy it and make sure you let your groom help you out with it. Scott really enjoyed helping me with the website!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

At the end of all of the planning, flowers, and decorations, I get to marry the man of my dreams! Our wedding day is going be amazing but the most joyful part of the day will be when I get to call Scott my husband!
