Joy Proposal Story: Krystn & Steve

by Allie Grampa

Steve and Krystn met at work when Steve was transitioned to my team to help with some special project work. Ultimately Steve joined Krystn’s team and soon after they became friends. On Krystn’s last day Steve gave her a card as she was leaving. When she got home she read the sweetest note—Steve thanked her for all she had done for him and asked to stay in touch.(Who doesn’t love a good office romance?) They eventually began talking and went out on our first date to the drive-in a month later.

Give us the details! When? Where? How?

In September, Steve and I headed to up to Lake George in New York for an extended weekend getaway.  As we were training for a half marathon we still needed to make sure we got our workouts in. For one of our workouts we needed to do 50 minutes of cross-training. Steve found a local hiking trail nearby and suggested that. So on the morning of September 12, 2016 Steve and I headed out for what we thought would be a relatively easy hike. To our surprise the trail was 2,000 feet straight up! After reaching the summit we stood together to take in the 100 mile view. Once I took a few photos I turned around to find Steve down on one knee! He then asked if I would marry him and after a 30 second delay of shock I said yes!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Planning it together has been the best. It has showed us how in sync we are while respecting each other’s different point of views. Trying the delicious food wasn’t half bad either.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We make sure to make to designate time every week that is “us” time. No talk of wedding allowed.
