Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Laurie and Jake were in Epcot in Disney World. While at the China Pavilion, in front of the fake Temple of Heaven, Jake got down on one knee. He surprised Laurie by telling her that she was the love of his life and asked her to be his life-long travel and adventure buddy. Laurie said, “What’s this? What’s happening? Really?! Really?! What?!” Even though she knew he had a ring and was kind of expecting it, she was still completely flabbergasted. She started crying, but eventually managed to say, “Yes!”. This was all caught on camera as Jake hired a wonderful Disney photographer. Later, they bought matching Star Wars shirts.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Honestly, getting to talk to family and friends so often. It’s been great to be so in touch with everyone. When we got engaged, we called pretty much all of our friends and family on the phone, and it was lovely to talk and catch up. Now that we’re planning, we’re constantly in touch with our families and everyone in the wedding party, there is lots of love to share and spread.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
We laugh a lot, eat mac and cheese, drink wine and beer, and tea. We also have amazing family and friends that are helping us with some of the planning, that takes some of the pressure off of us.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
It has made sending out invites and collecting RSVP’s so easy!
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
You can add notes to give details if you run out of space and you can also upload pictures! There are also so many beautiful choices for the invitation style.
