Joy Proposal Story: Lydia & Dan

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We met at the gym where Dan was working as a Personal Trainer!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Dan and I went on a holiday to the United States – while in New York, Dan and I visited an antique dealer located in the diamond district. That’s where Dan picked an engagement ring – a beautiful 80 year old Art Deco diamond piece! Dan decided he wanted to surprise me with the proposal, so I waited 3 very long months before he whisked me away to Noosa one early morning as a surprise and at sunrise, he proposed on the coastal track next to the ocean!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Getting to share the process with our friends and family and seeing their excitement for our special day! We are very lucky to have such supportive families and friends who are helping contribute to the day. We’ve been overwhelmed with the generosity and it’s been a wonderful and stress free experience so far, because of this.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Alcohol! Haha in all seriousness, I’ve not yet felt the pressures of wedding planning. Fortunately for Dan, I’m very organized and have everything pretty well organized…and we still have 13 months to go until the big day!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

The simplicity and user friendly applications.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Read every suggestion the website gives you – I charged through in the beginning without being thorough and missed some of the really cool components!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

It means that memories last a lifetime – our wedding will be the best day of our lives, surrounded by so much love and joy. It will be something we will remember forever!
