Joy Proposal Story: Lynsey & Ethan

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Ethan planned a surprise proposal using a “Wheel of Fortune” style fill-in-the-blank card detailing where we’d be spending the weekend and what we’d be doing. We stayed at the Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop, WA and spent the weekend mountain biking, getting a deluxe couples massage, amazing meals, and sitting in the hot tub facing the stunning North Cascade Mountains. Lynsey was a little suspicious by the elaborate weekend away but never suspected with all of the planned events that Ethan would propose in a bathrobe (+a bowtie) on the lodge balcony. The weekend ended with an early morning hot air balloon ride over the Methow Valley.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

The venue hunt and counting down the days until it’s finally here!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Going into each decision with an open mind and a glass (bottle) of wine.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

The RSVP feature with multiple questions! We’re getting married in a rural area where, for example, Uber is not available. Knowing where the majority of people are staying will help so much with shuttle accommodations!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Read through the FAQ and play around! There are so many options, take some time to explore them!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

We’ve been planning the wedding for roughly three months, and preparing for our marriage for over seven years. We’re excited about the party and having all of the people we hold dear together in one place, but we’re most excited to share a lifetime together!
