How long have you been together?
It will be 10 years in December of 2017!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Its funny because I was suspecting that it was coming. After being together for as long as we had, it’s no surprise. Mike was insistent on going to this great restaurant (Angelina’s on Staten Island) that we only go to for special occasions. It was a nice April evening (4/16/17) and no jacket was needed but he just had to have his jacket… go figure. The second we walked in the owner and the wait staff were waiting on us hand and foot, more so than usual. We got a beautiful table in the U shaped booth a bit to the side. In front of us they were setting up a life music for the evening. We had our appetizers, dinner and wine while we talked and enjoyed our evening out.
I turned around and he was down on one knee asking me to marry him, again. In that instant my heart was full.
All of a sudden, he started talking all of this mushy stuff about our life together and before I realize he turned around to take a box out of his jacket and asked me “Will you marry me?”. The second I said yes we were serenaded by the artist that was setting up in front of us. At the same moment that he started serenading us we received 2 glasses of champagne and the singer announced to the entire restaurant that “Mike and Martyna” just got engaged! It was so much in such a short amount of time that all I was able to do was laugh, uncontrollably, like a hyena. Once the song ended owner of the restaurant, Angelina, came to congratulate us (and also scold Mike for not kneeling- even though we were in a booth and it would have been hard!) It was beautiful. Once we got home I was walking toward the kitchen when he called my name and I turned around and he was down on one knee asking me to marry him, again. In that instant my heart was full and I held his face in my hands saying “Yes, Yes I will”!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Finding the venue was an amazing weight off our shoulders! We love the location. Designing the look and feel of the entire event has been pretty exhilarating.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
I have always been a very detail oriented person!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
Its easy to use and provides extra security with use of access codes!
