Joy Proposal Story: Megan & Paul

by Kelsey Vickers

How did the two of you meet?

We first met as neighbors in college and quickly became best friends. It was normal to find us staying late at dinner in the dining hall, deep in conversation, until the cleaning staff was vacuuming around us. We became so inseparable that our friends were convinced we were dating and just not telling them! It took a year and endless pestering from our friends before we realized we didn’t want to leave for the summer without one another. As they say, the rest is history!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We were on vacation in Norway, staying in a gorgeous hotel nestled between steep green hills. We decided to take a hike to the top of one of the highest peaks in the area. We crossed over streams and under waterfalls, through forests and over moss-covered rocks. After ascending over 2,000 feet, we reached the top. Sitting among snow-capped peaks, Paul handed me the lunch bag. When I looked inside, the ring box was sitting right on top of our lunch! Back at the hotel, we celebrated with a chilly dip in the fjord and then toasted with our families under a double rainbow. It was an unforgettable experience!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Our favorite experience so far has been wheel-throwing ceramic bud vases for each of our guests as wedding favors!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We were lucky to hire a great local wedding planner. They have done a fantastic job managing every detail so we get to focus on having fun with the process.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love the customizable RSVP and Q&A sections. We’re doing a destination wedding and we needed a platform to help us provide a lot of information with an easy to navigate design.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

I would say tie in unique designs with each section of your website so that your guests can easily distinguish which section of the site they are on.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Your wedding may seem like the most important thing in the upcoming year. It’s important to remember that the years to come, after your wedding, will be built on the strength and foundation you build together beforehand.
