Joy Proposal Story: Meghan & Peter

Joy Proposal Story: Meghan & Peter

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Meghan and I were on a five-day sailing trip from Panama to Colombia. On the third night, as we headed out into the Caribbean Sea, I proposed to Meghan under the moon and stars with a pair of dolphins as our only witnesses.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

My favorite experience so far is simply imagining having all of our friends and family together in one spot to celebrate such a beautiful moment. We’ve both lived internationally for almost 10 years, and the thought of being surrounded by friends and family in celebration sounds like an absolute dream!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Recognizing that we both wanted roughly the same things. We quickly agreed on the big decisions like location, number of guests, type of ceremony, reception, etc. I also found that we did a good job of coming up with equal alternatives for each situation. This has helped us keep from getting fixated on any single desire, and keep a more open mind. That said, we’re still eight months out, so ask me again in August!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love the unique design of the website, its mobile compatibility with the app, and the ability to add and subtract elements as they are needed.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

This is a tough question. I don’t feel like I’ve personally used Joy to its fullest potential yet! I look forward to adding more information like the agenda, map, and details, as well as use the app for sharing photos and communication. To be honest, I think this is one of the best parts of Joy. It doesn’t feel like a “set it, and forget it” type of website. It feels more interactive and engaging!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Our wedding gives us the opportunity to share a joyous moment with the people that mean the most to us. We also get to share the formal commencement of a long, joyous journey that began two years ago. I truly hope that joy will last for the rest of our lives.
