How did the two of you meet?
We meet on an online dating website.
How long have you been together?
We’ve been together for 5 1/2 years!
Although a wedding is just one day, it’s a very big day. It’s the day that we make a promise to love each other for the rest of our lives.
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
In July of 2016 we were driving to Asheville with 3 other friends to hang out for the weekend and go tubing down the French Broad River. On our way there, we stopped for a quick hike around Lake James. As we were hiking, Tegan and I were a little separated from the other 3 and he was talking to me about our past and all the great memories we’ve made together. As we made our way to an overlook of the lake, I noticed the other 3 drop back and pull out their phones to be used as cameras. And when we stopped walking, I turned to Tegan and said “I know what’s going on here”. He nervously laughed and had a short speech ready for that moment, then got down on one knee and proposed. My answer was “of course I will!”
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Since we decided to get married in Asheville, I’d have to say our favorite part is getting to visit Asheville many times during the year leading up to the wedding. Tegan did his 4th year rotations of Pharmacy school in Asheville. During this time, both Tegan and I fell in love with that city and decided it would be the perfect place for us to get married.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Easy, we let the professionals do what they do best! We’ve never planned or thrown a wedding before, so we just trust each vendor to make our day the best it can be.
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
It’s easy to use and has all the bells and whistles that we wanted in a wedding website. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that it was free for us to use 🙂
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Although a wedding is just one day, it’s a very big day. It’s the day that we make a promise to love each other for the rest of our lives. And having a big party with our family and friends to celebrate our love for each other is pretty awesome as well! We’ll be sure to make some great memories that day that will last forever.
