How did the two of you meet?
After college, I planned a huge round-the-world trip. But between graduation day and my departure date, I was in need of a summer job! Looking for something different, I applied (and was hired) to be Tomahawk Scout Reservation’s first ever Marketing Specialist, where Rob was a Camp Director. Rob asked me out on our first date, I said yes, and that’s where our adventures began!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Every once and awhile, Rob takes me on a romantic adventure. This time, we went out to brunch at one of our favorite local spots, where he surprised me with a spa day! He had me get a massage and a manicure (clever), then we went hiking.
Once we reached a spot with a gorgeous view, we stopped for hot chocolate. When I turned around, he was on one knee with a ring he had designed just for me. I was so surprised and of course said yes right away!
The joy that we create with all the people we love that day will always be there.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
It’s been so fun in having everyone – family, friends, etc. interested and involved in what we’re planning. The support around us is everywhere!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
I try to remember that it’s about a feeling, not things or how much we spend. We try to take breaks away from the planning process to enjoy our lives now, and I try to delegate as much as possible so that I don’t get overwhelmed by all the things to do!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Fill it out early and then use it like crazy!
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
That even though the flowers may die and the sun will set on our wedding day, the joy that we create with all the people we love that day will always be there.
